Kauffman Foundation Launches COMETS

The Kauffman Foundation recently released its COMETS (Connecting Outcome Measures in Entrepreneurship, Technology, and Science) database.  Version 1.0 contains parsed, cleaned, integrated, and beta-tested data from U.S. patents granted and National Science Foundation and National Institutes of Health grants with unique organization identifiers.  The database is the result of close to two decades of dedicated research by a community of scholars working to join data about science, technology, and economic outcomes that enables better tracking of the links between innovations, people, and businesses. Learn more and access the COMETS database here.

HUD Seeks Public Comments on Research Agenda

What do we need to know over the next five to ten years to improve knowledge gaps that are affecting the execution of good housing and community development policy and practice?  The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Office of Policy Development and Research (PD&R) is formulating its research agenda for the next 5–10 years and would like your input.  HUD invites you to think critically and provide input about the above question as it relates to four targeted topic areas:

  • Strengthening the Nation’s Housing Market to Bolster the Economy and Protect Consumers
  • Meeting the Need for Quality Affordable Rental Homes
  • Utilizing Housing as a Platform for Improving the Quality of Life
  • Building Inclusive and Sustainable Communities Free From Discrimination

To ensure appropriate consideration, please submit ideas and suggestions no later than November 4, 2011.  Access examples of PD&R’s current research activities here.  Learn more and submit your comments here.
