HUD Seeks Input into Rotating Topical Modules for 2013 AHS

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development is seeking data user input into questions for its new rotating topical modules in the 2013 American Housing Survey.  These modules include neighborhoods and walkability, household energy use, and disaster planning.  HUD plans to repeat these modules every four years.  Data users with suggestions for questions should submit them to Dav Vandenbroucke by November 23 and may also contact him for a tentative list of questions for the neighborhood and disaster modules.  
 

 

New York Times Examines Consequences of Budget, Statistical Report Cuts at National Agricultural Statistics Service

The New York Times recently featured a piece on the consequences of budget cuts to the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the National Agricultural Statistics Service reports that will be eliminated as a result (approximately 500 reports).  Access the full article here.

 

 

New Variables Added to LED Quarterly Workforce Indicators

The Census Bureau recently added several new variables of interest to its Local Employment Dynamics Quarterly Workforce Indicators (QWI).  The site now gives data users the option to disaggregate workforce indicators by education level, gender, and race/ethnicity.  Differences in earnings and job turnover rates by education level and race for small areas of geography are now accessible, and the pivot table option enables comparisons across categories.  Check it out!

About the Data:
The National Longitudinal Surveys (NLS) are a set of surveys designed to gather information at multiple points in time on the labor market activities and other significant life events of several groups of men and women.  For more than four decades, NLS data have served as an important tool for economists, sociologists, and other researchers.  Information about the NLS is available on the Bureau of Labor Statistics website.

Census Bureau Webinar:
Migration Data
