Call for Presenters:  BLS CE Survey Microdata Users Workshop & Survey Methods Symposium

The Bureau of Labor Statistics recently put out a call for presenters for the Consumer Expenditure Survey Microdata Users Workshop and Survey Methods Symposium, to be held July 17-20, 2012 in Washington, DC.  Works in progress are not only accepted but also encouraged.  Presentations should emphasize how the data were used, questions or problems encountered, and similar discussion.  Both experienced and novice users are encouraged to participate.  Learn more here.
 

 

Census Bureau Releases 2010 LODES Data for OnTheMap

The U.S. Census Bureau recently released the 2010 LEHD Origin-Destination Employment Statistics (LODES) data for the OnTheMap application.  The 2010 release contains origin-destination data for covered employment in 49 states.  Available worker and firm characteristics include age, sex, race, ethnicity, educational attainment, earnings, and industry.  More information about the LODES data is available here.  Information about the OnTheMap application is accessible here.

Conference:
Innovative Data Sources for Regional Economic Analysis

This conference will explore the potential of innovative federal, commercial, and university data sources to inform regional economic analysis, programs, and policies.  Presenters will be arranged in a “data fair” format in a 3,900 square foot room.

Attendees will include state and regional analysts and practitioners, academic researchers, federal economic program managers and policymakers, and federal statistical agency staff.

The Summer Data Conference is an opportunity for professional networking, updates on federal and national activities affecting data collection and reporting, and information about the best new approaches in collecting, reporting, and using education statistics.  The Summer Data Conference will include training and business meetings for state CCD and EDFacts data coordinators.  In addition, NCES postsecondary education experts will provide sessions that increase your knowledge of postsecondary data environments and data systems such as IPEDS.  There will also be a range of informative sessions targeted toward interests in Common Core of Data, Common Education Data Standards, data collection, data management, data privacy, data dissemination, data linking beyond K-12, data standards, data quality, data usage, growth models, education research, school finance, and Statewide Longitudinal Data Systems.  More information can be found here.
