HUD and DOT Launch Location Affordability Portal The U.S. Department for Housing and Urban Development and the U.S. Department of Transportation have unveiled the Location Affordability Portal (LAP), a cost calculation tool that allows users to estimate housing and transportation costs for neighborhoods across the country.
NCHS Releases Interactive Health, U.S. 2012 Website The National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS) has released its interactive website for Health, United States 2012: In Brief, developed in collaboration with the National Library of Medicine. The website allows users to take the data from the Health, U.S. report and create customized charts and tables.
Partners Join CREW in Support of the DATA Act More than twenty groups, joined the Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW) in support of the DATA Act’s efforts to make more government spending information open and public. The letter says the proposed bill “will improve the transparency of our government to its citizens and modernize our government’s ability to manage itself.”
Census Bureau Mobile App Adds Rental Vacancy Rates The U.S. Census Bureau has added the rental vacancy rate to America’s Economy, the Census Bureau’s widely downloaded mobile app that provides constantly updated statistics on the U.S. economy.
NSF Advances National Efforts Enabling Data-driven Discovery National Science Foundation (NSF) officials spotlighted the development and implementation of novel, multi-stakeholder partnerships that promise progress in big data discovery, education and innovation at a White House-sponsored event, Data to Knowledge to Action, in Washington, D.C.
