APDU Expresses Concerns over MO Telephone Legislation This week, APDU joined the Marketing Research Association (MRA) and the American Statistical Association (ASA) to express concern proposed legislation in the Missouri House of Representatives. A proposed bill by Rep. Scott Fitzpatrick (R-158), H.B. 1485, could increase the cost of Missouri state government agencies’ research efforts and jeopardize the representativeness and reliability of that research.

Census Bureau Launches Redesigned Survey of Income and Program Participation The Census Bureau has released the newly redesigned Survey of Income and Program Participation (SIPP), which collects data about Americans’ economic well-being – including questions on poverty and participation in welfare programs, health insurance and medical expenses, family relationships and other related characteristics.

Examination of State-Level Labor Turnover Survey Data The LTS program was started by the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company in 1926 to provide personnel managers with a national benchmark of turnover rates in manufacturing plants. The survey was turned over to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) in 1929, they began collecting monthly national-level LTS data in 1930.

Computer and Internet Use Main Computer use data have been collected in various supplements to the Current Population Survey (CPS). Since 1997, the survey has included questions on Internet Use.
