Census Bureau Releases 2011 American Community Survey Estimates
The U.S. Census Bureau has released findings from the 2011 American Community Survey. The survey provides a wide range of important statistics about our nation’s people, housing and economy for all communities in the country. The results are used by everyone from retailers, homebuilders and police departments, to town and city planners. The survey is the only source of local estimates for most of the 40 topics it covers, such as educational attainment, occupation, language spoken at home, nativity, ancestry, and selected monthly homeowner costs down to the smallest communities. The estimates released are available in detailed tables for the nation, all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, every congressional district, every metropolitan area, and all counties and places with populations of 65,000 or more.
The Conference Board Releases Total Economy Database
The Total Economy Database™, (TED) is a comprehensive database with annual data covering GDP, population, employment, hours, labor quality, capital services, labor productivity, and total factor productivity for about 123 countries in the world. Census Bureau Launches Website to Promote 2012 Economic Census
The economic census is the U.S. Government’s official five-year measure of American business and the economy. To encourage response to the 2012 Economic Census, the Census Bureau has launched business.census.gov. The site includes videos, fact sheets, story ideas and talking points that business associations, chambers of commerce, media and public agencies can use to get the word out about the economic census. Information on how communities and business owners can use the statistics in economic development, business decisions and strategic planning is also provided. This site includes direct links to samples of the economic census forms these businesses will receive this fall to help them prepare to respond.
The site also includes highlights from the first-ever comprehensive report on franchising from the Census Bureau from the 2007 Economic Census.
