Census Bureau to Offer American Community Survey Internet Response
The American Community Survey, the most detailed portrait of America’s towns and neighborhoods, is now more convenient for most participants with the added availability of responding online. That will make it the 61st U.S. Census Bureau survey with Internet response, saving money on printing, paper, postage and processing costs, while maintaining security. “The online response option is part of an ongoing digital transformation at the Census Bureau,” said Thomas Mesenbourg, the Census Bureau’s acting director. NCES Releases New State-Level Data on the State Education Reforms Website
New state-level data on high school exit exams, college entrance and college- and career-readiness assessments, as well as state efforts to support college- and career-readiness standards, are now available on the State Education Reforms website. Access the State Education Reforms website here.
Easy Exploration into Your Community’s Statistics
The Census Bureau recently released Easy Stats, one of the latest web technology tools developed by the U.S. Census Bureau to make their data quicker and easier to access. As its name suggests, Easy Stats provides a user-friendly way to retrieve timely statistics about the nation’s people, places and economy. Access Easy Stats here.
NLIHC and PAHRC Launch National Housing Preservation Database
Data is critical to supporting evidence-based policies and strategies to preserve and create affordable housing. The National Low-Income Housing Coalition (NLIHC) in partnership with the Public and Affordable Housing Research Corporation (PAHRC) recently launched the National Housing Preservation Database, which includes information on more than 4.5 million housing units in 75,000 federally assisted properties. 2020 Census: Initial Research Milestones Generally Met but Plans Needed to Mitigate Highest Risks
According to U.S. Census Bureau officials, to inform timely design decisions, research on new methods to improve the cost effectiveness of the 2020 Census must be accomplished early enough in the decade to confirm their likely impact on both cost and quality. Read more here.
O*NET Ability Profiler Scoring Program software and User Guides
The Occupational Ability Profiles (OAPs) in the O*NET Ability Profiler Scoring Program (APSP) software have been updated to reflect data from the new O*NET 17.0 database. Report on Transforming Classification Released
On Thursday, December 6, the Public Interest Declassification Board (PIDB) released its Report to the President on Transforming the Security Classification System. President Obama directed the PIDB to compile the report in a December 2009 Presidential Memo on Implementation of the Executive Order, “Classified National Security Information.” Read more here.
