Federal DATA Act Work Begins With the enactment on May 9, 2014, of the Digital Accountability and Transparency Act (DATA Act), the U.S. Treasury Department and the White House Office of Management and Budget (OMB) now have one year to complete the first stage of implementation. The new law requires Treasury and OMB to “establish government-wide financial data standards” for federal spending within one year of enactment.
Open Dialogues on Open Data The White House Office of Science and Technology Policy and The GovLab co-hosted a unique Open Data Roundtable that brought together more than 20 officials and staff from the U.S. Department of Commerce with two dozen companies and organizations that use Commerce data.

Reclassifications Impact Analysis in Health Care & Finance In the first quarter of 2013, many establishments that provide home care for the elderly were reclassified from NAICS 814110 (private households) to 624120 (services for the elderly). This reclassification may cause problems for anyone analyzing the health care industry, especially in the regions that were most affected.

BEA to Release Modified Regional Input-Output Model The Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA) plans to release in 2015 a modified economic model to replace the original Regional Input-Output Modeling System (RIMS II). Much like RIMS II, the modified model will produce regional ?multipliers? that can be used in economic impact studies to estimate the total economic impact of a project on a region, but the modified model will be updated with new input-output data only for benchmark years.
New QCEW Data Viewer The Bureau of Labor Statistics introduced an innovative new data extract tool for QCEW data. It accesses flat files to create tables of county, metropolitan statistical area, state, and national data by industry.
Credentials feature added to O*NET Online O*NET Online users can now search for certifications, training, licensing, and apprenticeship information from Summary, Details, and Custom report pages. New certificate information is also included within the Education Level Required section of each report. Finally, navigation features of the reports have been updated to streamline access to this valuable career information.

The app, called Human, runs in the background of your iPhone, automatically detecting activities like walking, cycling, running, and motorized transport.
