TrendStats NCES recently added a new functionality to the Datalab for Postsecondary Education. TrendStats allows users to compare estimates for like variables across multiple data set years. The National Postsecondary Student Aid Study (NPSAS) datasets for 1996-2012 are available for analysis.

Making Sense of Genomics in Virtual Reality Virtual reality company Hammerhead VR has created a data visualization tool called VR Genomics to allow researchers to easily interact with large datasets and better integrate experimental data with genomic data. Hammerhead VR created a proof-of-concept visualization using genomic data from the the Wellcome Sanger Institute, a genomic research center, that displays a catalog of relevant annotations whenever a user ?arrives? at a particular gene. Hammerhead VR hopes that its tool can reduce the time it takes for researchers to sort through genetic data and identify new correlations and patterns.
