Amendment Filed Endangering 2020 Census

APDU has just learned that Senator David Vitter (R-LA) has filed an amendment to the FY2015 Commerce, Justice, and Science Appropriations bill (H.R. 4660), being considered now in the U.S. Senate, that would prohibit the Census Bureau from spending funds on the 2020 Census unless it includes questions regarding U.S. citizenship and immigration status. Julia Lane: Keynote Speaker for APDU Conference

FY15 Statistical Agency Budget Developments

On June 5, the full Senate Appropriations Committee marked up and reported out the fiscal year (FY) 2015 Commerce, Justice, Science and Related Agencies (CJS) Appropriations Bill. The bill now heads to the Senate floor and could possibly be on the Senate floor as soon as June 16. The Senate version of the bill totals $51.2 billion, which complies with the spending caps set in the bipartisan budget agreement brokered in late 2013 and is nearly $400 million less than the bill?s FY 2014 allocation.
