Two Important Events on Fed Stats On Thursday, March 12, two events that will be of interest to APDU members took place. Census Bureau Director John H. Thompson and Chief Financial Officer Joanne Crane briefed media in an online web conference about the Census Bureau?s funding components in the President?s fiscal year 2016 budget request. In addition, the American Enterprise Institute held a daylong event, ?The Federal Statistical System in a Big Data World.? Follow the links to learn more. NYT OpEd – Don?t Starve the Census In response to remarks from Rep. John Culberson at a House hearing, the Editorial Board at the New York Times writes, ?A threat to timely and accurate census data is a threat to fact-based debate and data-driven policy making. The census budget is small in terms of federal spending, but the White House should wage a big fight for it.?
