Visualization of the Week

Visualizing the Second Hottest Year on Record The New York Times has created a data visualization charting the temperatures in 3,800 cities for every day in 2017 and comparing the temperatures to the normal temperature range and historical highs and lows. The visualization uses data from weather forecasting company Accuweather and indicates that 88 percent of cities had annual mean temperatures higher than normal for 2017, making it the second hottest year on record.
